Kensington KeyFolio Security Case for iPad 2

Published

on

Kensington’s introducing keyboard case that can lock down an iPad 2 to prevent theft. The $129 Kensington KeyFolio Secure Security Case for iPad 2 comes with a Bluetooth keyboard and ClickSafe lock that makes it impossible to remove the iPad from the case. Unfortunately, this new Kensington iPad 2 case does not work with the third-generation iPad.

Some iPad 2 users will scoff at this case since it’s not the most attractive thing in the world and the locking mechanism adds bulk, but iPad security is an important, especially for those using them for business purposes.

The KeyFolio Secure Security Case has a removable Bluetooth tactile keyboard that its makers say is optimized for touch typists. Using a keyboard can drastically improve productivity on an iPad and is a must-have for professionals travelling without laptops. One-touch Bluetooth pairing means it can sync with your iPad in no time.

The angle of the iPad 2 is adjustable as long as the keyboard is removed. One limitation of this case is that the iPad 2 can’t be rotated into portrait mode while typing.

The case allows full access to the iPad 2’s volume control, headphone jack, 30-pin connector and cameras. The case comes with a loop to hold a stylus in place, which is a nice feature we wish more iPad cases had.

The Kensington KeyFolio Secure Security Case has an MSRP of $129.99 and is available for pre-order from Amazon.com. That’s expensive for an iPad case, but it’s easy to justify if your iPad 2 is your primary computing device during business travel when a stolen iPad would blow your entire trip.

Those looking for a keyboard case without a security lock should check out the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard cover, which is one of our favorite iPad cases.
