Sonos Sub Adds Wireless Bass to Sonos HiFi Setups

Published

on

Sonos makes some amazing wireless HiFi setups including the Play:3 system, but they lack the bass of a sound system with a dedicated subwoofer.

The new Sonos Sub takes care of that shortcoming with two force-cancelling speakers positioned face-to-face and dual acoustic ports. Two Class-D amplifiers power the Sonos Sub.

The sub is a snap to set up anywhere in the house with a simple power cable and wireless connectivity to the Sonos Bridge, though the 36 pound weight means you won’t be carrying this all over the house as easily as the Play:3 speakers.

The Sonos Sub will go on sale on June 19th for $699, with a $599 version arriving in September with a matte black finish.

The Sonos Sub works upright and on its side, so it can fit in a variety of locations, including under some couches to bring the bass to your bottom. The sub measures 15.8 x 6.2 x 15 inches.

The ease of setup is one of the best parts about this wireless sub and wireless speaker setups. It takes just a minute to connect to the Sonos network, and from there, users can stream their own audio and many internet radio stations and services to the Sonos Play and Sonos Sub.

The Sonos app for Mac and PC offers access on the computer, and the company’s iPad, iPhone and Android apps put Sonos control in your hand.

The Sonso Sub is pricey, but like the rest of the Sonos System, we wouldn’t be surprised to find out that it’s worth the price.
