How to Get the Verizon Galaxy Nexus Update

Published

on

There are still Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners out there that still have yet to receive the Android 4.0.4 update from Verizon. Those that haven’t seen the update will be happy to know that there is a method to try in order to try and manually pull the update from Verizon.

The update, which apparently started rolling out last week (I still don’t have it), is slowly rolling out to Galaxy Nexus owners. The software contains a bunch of bug fixes that should help to smooth over the experience of some Galaxy Nexus owners.

Many owners of Verizon’s device have been experiencing bugs since the launch back in December.

Well, many people (myself included) have become impatient with the speed of the roll out. Fortunately, there is a way to try and attempt to pull the update.

Discovered by Phandroid, the method seems to be working for many people. Here are the full instructions on how to try and get the update this moment:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > All
  • SelectGoogle Services Framework.
  • Tap on Clear Data and then Force Stop.
  • Go to About Settings >About Phone >Check for Updates.

For some, this method has worked. Others have had to try this multiple times in order to get the update. Some have even switched up the order.

Personally, I haven’t been able to get this method to work at all but I can confirm that it has been working for some people. I will also say that it’s worth trying out, especially for those that are dealing with a host of bugs.

Verizon has not said how long the roll out will last so it could be quite a bit of time before all Galaxy Nexus owners see the update arrive.

I have been a Windows / Android gut for multiple generations of devices. I hated the original iPad 1 (which I bought). I bought a Galaxy Nexus the day that it was released with high expectations. It really never was a very good device. I was extremely frustrated with the Nexus.

Today, I am a happy iPhone 4s & New iPad owner. What a huge difference in quality and ease of use. I do miss a couple of Android features (widgets for example), but I am very happy with my new Apple hardware & Apps!!!!

Maybe this will change in the future as the mobile world evolves, but for now this is how I feel.
