Verizon Preparing Another Big 4G LTE Expansion

Published

on

As expected, Verizon has added several more cities to its previous list of markets that will be seeing 4G LTE service starting on June 21st.

Verizon has announced that several more cities will be getting high-speed 4G LTE data later on this month. The list is already a fairly expansive one and we expect the carrier to add more cities as we get closer to the roll out date.

Previously, the carrier said that Seymour, Indiana, Columbus, Indiana and Traverse City, Michigan would be getting 4G LTE service on the 21st. However, several more cities, west coast included, have joined the list.

The list of cities that will for sure be getting June 21st now includes:

  • Burlington, North Carolina
  • Jacksonville, North Carolina
  • New Bern, North Carolina
  • Bedford, Pennsylvania

In addition, the carrier has also announced markets that will see 4G LTE in the ‘coming weeks.’ We assume that will mean that they will go live on June 21st but the carrier has yet to confirm that as fact.

Those markets include:

  • Jefferson City, Missouri
  • Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri
  • Gainesville, Georgia

We expect Verizon to add more cities to this list as the month goes on which means we should see quite a few new markets get 4G LTE service.

Verizon will also be expanding several 4G LTE markets later this month. Areas that will see 4G LTE expansion in the weeks ahead include:

  • Gainesville, Florida
  • Volusia, Flagler Counties, Florida
  • Springfield, Missouri
  • The Triangle, North Carolina
  • Indiana, Pennsylvania
  • Idaho
  • Eastern Oregon

So, again, this is shaping up to be a massive expansion which will bring data speeds that can reach up to 10 times faster than typical 3G speeds to customers in these areas.

It could not come at a better time either as Verizon has just announced the new 4G LTE compatible Samsung Galaxy S III and will be releasing another 4G LTE device, the Droid Incredible 4G LTE, in the weeks ahead as well.
