Sony Xperia Mini Pro Ice Cream Sandwich Update Rolling Out Now

Published

on

Don’t look now but the Sony Xperia Mini Pro, a relatively obscure Android smartphone, is now in the midst of an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich roll out.

In a blog post, first discovered by Engadget, Sony confirmed the good news for Xperia Mini Pro owners and owners of Sony’s 3-inch smartphone should now look for the upgrade to Android 4.0.

The Sony Xperia Mini Pro launched last summer which means it has been running on Gingerbread for just around a year.

Sony is going to be rolling out the Xperia Mini Pro Android 4.0 in batches which means that not everyone will be see the update roll out today.

The upgrade to Android 4.0 will bring the Xperia Mini Pro a new user interface and tons of features that should make the experience on the device an even better one.

Sony has been very diligent and forthright about the Android Ice Cream Sandwich updates for its Xperia devices, updating owners regularly about the status of the software for its devices.

Of course, the news hasn’t always been good.

While confirming updates for many of its Xperia-branded devices, the company also announced that its PlayStation Phone, the Sony Xperia Play, will not be getting the upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich.

News that the year old 3-inch Sony Xperia Mini Pro will be getting the update will probably not sooth those wounds.

In any event, those who own the Xperia Mini Pro will want to check their phone to see if some Ice Cream Sandwich goodness has arrived today.

    Hi,
I got the new update done on my Mini Pro.
It is a total disaster for me.
    1. The speed and the sleek operation is totally lost
    2. The UI is not as attractive as 2.3
    3. Animations are not that natural
    4. Map app is hopeless

Now I am thinking of rolling back, but have to send it to a service station.
Don’t do the update till you read many review as possible..

I had the same results as Jeew.

Although I like the UI, animations and other eye candy, the update was an absolute disaster and performance has completely gone downhill.

Now everything in my phone runs terribly slow and it will often freeze and reboot by itself.

I would strongly advise against updating it.
