iPhone 5 Photo Renders Offer Lifelike Look at Possible New iPhone

Published

The iPhone 5 remains a secret, but that hasn’t stopped talented graphic designers from putting together iPhone 5 photos that show us what the new iPhone might look like.

You’ll have to wait for the iPhone 5 release date this fall to know for sure, but here is one take on what the iPhone 5 might look like. These ‘photos’ are computer renderings, not real photos of the iPhone 5.

The new iPhone 5 photo renders found on iPhone中文网, a Chinese iPhone site, were initially spotted by MacOtakara and AppleInsider, are based off of leaked iPhone 5 parts and leaked iPhone 5 schematics.

iPhone 5 Photo Leak size

Renderings show what the iPhone 5 may look like.

The image above shows a taller iPhone with a metal back with a black finish. The taller iPhone rumors continues to gain steam and support from analysts with connections to Apple parts suppliers.

Note the taller display and new placement for the FaceTime camera.

This long look at the iPhone 5 render shows a longer screen with a centered FaceTime camera above the speaker. Also note there is no headphone jack on the top of the iPhone 5. There appears to be space for an extra row of icons on the home screen as well.

No headphone jack on the top of the iPhone 5.

A closer look at the camera on the iPhone 5. We expect a similar sensor as the current iPhone. This is also a nice look at the two-tone black finish on the iPhone 5. It will be interesting to see if Apple adopts a look like this.

iPhone 5 Photo Leak Dock Connector

This iPhone 5 photo render shows the new dock connector and headphone jack placement.

This last iPhone 5 photo render shows the new mini-dock connector which Apple is rumored to introduce with the iPhone 5. Apple announced a new Magsafe connector for the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display notebooks, so the company is open to changing up their proprietary connectors. This photo also shows the larger speaker grilles, which look like those found on the iPad.

iPhone 5 Release Date & Rumors

The iPhone 5 rumors point to a fall iPhone 5 release date, likely in September or October. The next generation iPhone is the sixth iPhone from Apple, but many call this new iPhone model the iPhone 5.

Below is a video showing what the iPhone 5 might look like, which matches up well with the iPhone 5 photo renders released this morning.

This video is based off the same iPhone 5 parts and leaked schematics, so it is no surprise that they look similar. This is not additional evidence to support the claim that Apple will release a taller iPhone 5 later in 2012.

If Apple does release a taller iPhone 5, it would be the first time Apple has changed the screen size of the iPhone which remains at 3.5-inches. With more consumers looking for larger screens on their smartphones, Apple may cave and deliver a 4-inch display with a widescreen aspect ration.

the phone shown is a Hiphone not an iPhone. We digitally enhanced the photograph and can clearly see the word Hiphone

It would be more stupid to make it taller and wider. The iPhone’s aspect ratio is horrible to watch movies and shows on. Every new smartphone on the market is 16:9, so it would be stupid to stay at 3:2. Plus by making it wider, the tiny 4″ screen will feel just as wide as a typical 4.5″ 16:9 screen.
