Droid RAZR & Droid RAZR MAXX Ice Cream Sandwich Updates Released

The Motorola Droid RAZR and Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX Ice Cream Sandwich updates will roll out today, Verizon confirmed.

In a blog post, the carrier confirmed that Android 4.0 for both the Droid RAZR and the Droid RAZR MAXX would begin rolling out to customers starting today. The roll out ends a long saga that saw several release dates come and go and quite a bit of silence on Motorola and Verizon’s end.

The updates will be coming with quite a few new features including global roaming capabilities which will make the devices capable of getting voice and data service in more than 220 countries.

Along with global roaming, the update will be bringing all of the features found within Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich itself. Those include Face Unlock which allows users to unlock the device by using their face only, re-sizable widgets, a new style for the UI, and more.

All in all, it’s a massive update that is going to please a lot of Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners who have been waiting for months on end for the new software to arrive.

The update will also make the Droid RAZR MAXX one of the most appealing Android phones on the market. With Android 4.0, its massive 3,300 mAh battery and its slim frame, the Droid RAZR MAXX is now a force to be reckoned with.

Well, that is of course until Verizon decides to release the Motorola Droid RAZR HD which should combined the slimness, massive battery and Android 4.0 with a high-resolution display, something both the Droid RAZR and the Droid RAZR MAXX lack.

However, this day is for Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners so make sure to take a look to see if the update is there and let us know how the update works out.

Ice Cream Sandwich probably never tasted so sweet.

After reading several articles, it I checked my Razr Maxx for system updates and there it finally was! Took about 20 minutes but all seems well. I noticed the changes, but there are still similarities as well. I think I will like it :) FYI…I downloaded ICS around 1am, here in northern California. Ok, time to play! M
