Easy Phone Sync Helps iPhone Users Switch to Samsung Android Phones

Samsung is trying to lure iPhone users over to Android, and now it’s offering an app to make the transition easier for UK switchers.

Samsung partnered with Media Mushroom for a new app called Easy Phone Sync. The app is free for users who buy a new Samsung Galaxy smartphone, no matter which one they choose. The app helps users transfer most of their content from their iPhone to the Android device.

The app can sync contacts, messages, photos, music, and videos to the Android device. The app connects to a desktop app for Mac and PC which extracts the data from an iPhone backup in iTunes. The app won’t work for DRM’ed movies and TV shows from iTunes, but everything else should work (aside from apps, obviously).

After users sync their new Galaxy phones to their Mac or PC the same app can continue to sync content from iTunes. So users can still buy music from Apple and sync it to their smartphone. The only downside is users will have to buy music from the desktop or laptop. Although, there are other apps for Android that lets users buy music on the phone and sync it to the desktop later.

Unfortunately, the app isn’t available to users outside the UK at the moment. American users can still see the app in the Google Play Store, but the page says the app isn’t available in the country. Media Mushroom does offer other apps that U.S. users can use to sync iTunes content to their Android smartphones. The only problem is the other two apps only sync iTunes music files, so users have to sync their contacts, messages, and photos on their own.
