GreatCall Launches Jitterbug Plus for Seniors

GreatCall, the company behind the original Jitterbug phone, has launched an updated version of the device today in the form of the Jitterbug Plus.

The new version of the Jitterbug brings a host of improvements and enhancements to the table, even adding some new social features to the mix.

The Jitterbug Plus keeps the same design as the older model, a clamshell design that is both lightweight and comfortable to hold. It also features large buttons that are both backlit and extremely easy to see.

GreatCall has launched the Jitterbug Plus for seniors.New in the Jitterbug Plus are a new speaker that is extremely loud and crisp and fantastic battery life. In fact, GreatCall says that the JitterBug plus gets 25 hours of standby battery life which means that users won’t need to continually charge it.

It also features a 1.3 mega-pixel camera which adds some social elements to the Jitterbug experience. Users can, with one-touch, easily upload images to social networking sites like Facebook.

The main feature of the Jitterbug remains intact as well. That feature of course is access to GreatCall’s 5Star Urgent Response service which features an operator that is on standby 24 hours of the day, seven days a week.

The operator will greet users by name and can help in case of emergency. The operator can also help manage a users Calendar or Phone Book should that service be needed.

There are also useful applications that Jitterbug Plus users can take advantage of including LiveNurse which will put owners in touch with a nurse.

The Jitterbug Plus comes in red and white and retails for $99 without a contract. That price is a limited time offer as GreatCall generally has it priced at $119.

Plans for the phone start at $14.99 per month and users will never incur long distance or roaming charges.

Look for our full review of the Jitterbug Plus later this week.
