Don’t look now AT&T Galaxy Note owners but it looks like the device may end up being the last Samsung Galaxy Note updated with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Neither Samsung nor AT&T has yet to give out any sort of specific time table for the software to arrive. However, it now appears that we do have a possible release date for one North American version of the Galaxy Note.
A leaked document coming from MobileSyrup indicates that the Rogers Samsung Galaxy Note will be getting a bump up to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on July 21st. A Saturday.
Of course, that date is subject to change but a possible date is nicer than having no date at all. Just ask AT&T owners who have been in the dark about an update ever since the phone was released.
Granted, the Galaxy Note is a different beast than most smartphones. First, it utilizes a stylus called the S-Pen which allows users to write directly on the phone’s massive 5.3-inch display. The S-Pen is also compatible with specific applications. Throw in the size of the homescreen and it’s easy to see why it has taken so long.
Still, as we have pointed out, the international version of the Galaxy Note got its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in May.
We also saw the update running on an official AT&T Galaxy Note at CTIA 2012 in Louisiana which seemed to point to an update possibly being close.
At this point though, without any sort of leak or possible release date, we have to assume that the AT&T Galaxy Note might, unfortunately, be the last Galaxy Note updated with ICS.
