Pantech has just announced a successor to the Vega 5 in the form of the Vega S5 for the South Korean market with the increasingly popular large 5-inch display, proudly placing the Vega S4 in the phablet category alongside contenders like Samsung’s Galaxy Note and LG’s Optimus Vu. At this time, the Vega S5 is only available in Pantech’s home country and the device features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 720p HD display, 4G LTE capabilities, and a Qualcomm dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. The phone comes with Pantech’s skin on top of Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Reservations are being taken starting on July 4th and the phone is expected to be available to consumers this month. Customers can choose either a white or black model.

The phone will have a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The Pantech Vega S5 will also feature a voice assistant designed by Pantech in the form of Smart Voice.
