Staples Outs Ship Date for Nexus 7 Tablet: July 12-17

Though the Nexus 7 tablet was announced at Google I/O late last month and interested customers have been able to pre-order the Google-branded tablet, Google has so far been vague about the ship date for the device. Now, thanks to office supplies retailer Staples, we have somewhat of a clearer image of when the Nexus 7 will ship.

According to Staples’ pre-order disclaimer, the Nexus 7 will ship between July 12-17 for those who pre-order by July 10. Additionally, delivery may take 1 to 3 business days extra and should arrive no earlier than July 13 to customers’ homes or offices.

News of Staples’ launch date for the Google slate was discovered by Droid Matters

The Nexus 7 tablet will launch starting at $200 for a fixed 8 GB of internal storage, quad-core Tegra 3 Kai processor, and a 7-inch 1280 X 800 resolution display. A $250 version will up the internal storage capacity to 16 GB. The tablet will also feature NFC capabilities and will work with Google Wallet. To help promote Google Wallet, Google is issuing a $25 Wallet credit to those who purchase a Nexus 7 tablet.

It’s unclear if Google and/or other retailers will launch the Nexus 7 slates ahead of Staples’ anticipated ship date. For now, though, we can expect devices to begin shipping on July 12.

Not sure why no one pointed this out yet, but the year referred to by “no earlier than July 13” says 2011. This could just be a typo on Staples part, but its still kind of weird.
