Nokia Exec Hints at Windows Phone Lumia With PureView Coming Soon

By  |  1 Comment

Nokia has made it no secret that it intends to bring its PureView imaging technology found on its Symbian-powered Nokia 808 smartphone to its Windows Phone Lumia lineup in the past. Now, it seems that the date where a Lumia PureView Windows Phone smartphone would debut is getting closer as Nokia VP of Worldwide Developer Relations Richard Kerris told Neowin that the company is working to introduce novel technologies in its smartphone range soon. According to Kerris, PureView on Lumia phones will happen ‘very soon.’

Kerris’ frank interview also revealed that Nokia may soon usher a Lumia handset on U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless soon as well. Kerris states that ‘it won’t be long’ before that happens. Perhaps the debut of Windows Phone 8 on the OS level will bring a Lumia to Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

In the past, it has been rumored that Nokia will introduce a Lumia handset running Windows Phone OS for Verizon with an improved camera, perhaps PureView, Lumia, and Verizon will soon get matched together.

The company is also working on some intelligent location-aware features. Such features may make it possible to lock away business emails when a user returns home or block certain features on a smartphone if the phone senses the small hands of a child picking up the device.

Kerris is showing a lot of optimism for Nokia’s forthcoming lineup, stating that “people will be climbing over themselves” to pick up a Nokia device this Sprint. He did not say what those products will be, but did state that Nokia intends on commercializing some of its research into flexible displays, wearable computing technologies, and other concepts.
