HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich Update Rolling Out This Month

Published

on

The HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update release date should come sometime in July, although both HTC and Verizon remain mum on a specific roll out date.

Android and Me is reporting that an HTC Rezound user has been told by HTC support that the HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update will be rolling out sometime in July. Verizon, for its part, remains silent on the situation.

HTC promised that the HTC Rezound ICS update would roll out at some point in either June or July of this year and it appears that the company still believes that the update is on track for a release in that time frame.

The company told the Rezound owners, through email, that the update would begin to roll out by the end of July and final pushes of the upgrade would roll out in August.

HTC says the Rezound ICS update will arrive in July.

HTC did not say when the update would be rolling out exactly but it appears that it might be rolling out close to the end of the month if August is in the conversation.

The news comes shortly after the HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update appeared on HTC’s website. The update was quickly taken down but not before owners were treated to the contents of the update which include:

Applications & Widgets

  • V CAST Media Manager has been updated to Backup Assistant Plus with an enhanced user experience.
  • Caller Name ID application has been updated and added to All Apps.
  • Time zone issues have been resolved within the Clock widget.

Device Features

  • Device is enabled with the Wireless Alerting System.
  • Cisco AnyConnect support has been added to improve VPN functionality.
  • Improved data connectivity for a better user experience.
  • Improve device stability minimizes the number of resets.
  • Improvements to Mobile Hotspot connectivity.

Email, Messaging & Web

Improvements to default mail application now displays all Yahoo! mail contents properly

Company representatives aren’t always the best source of concrete information but HTC made a promise and as of right now, there is no reason to doubt that it will keep that promise.

Excited, HTC Rezound owners?

The release had been finished for while now. It’s corporate politics that have delayed it. I know this because I have the official installed already. It was leaked months ago and verified as the legit version when HTC posted it on their Site (before promptly removing I likely due to request from vzw). If you don’t want to wait anymore then Google how to install the leak. It doesn’t require root and takes like 45 minutes. Ics is beautiful on my rezound.

I love the part in the article where it says that “HTC made a PROMISE and at this time there should be NO REASON to DOUBT that PROMISE.” Ok so there a huge reason not to doubt there promise. Um first they made the same promise back last year when the phone came out that ICS would be coming out EARLY 2012. In fact it was a huge selling point. That you shouldn’t wait for the delayed GNex bc by early next year HTC and VZW “PROMISES” to have it out early 2012. This is not really 2012 we are in Q3 of 2012. I remember the VZW manager swearing up & down that he was 120% absolutely positive it would be out early 2012. So don’t wait on the GNex get this device it’s got everything the other device has plus Beats & the headphones except ICS which uses the Dual Core instead of shutting the core off. But no worries “WE PROMISE” it’s coming out in January the earliest February the latest! Yet here it is nearly 8 Months later my Dual Core device is a single core device that i paid $300.00 for not to have my phone at full potential. Granted i like HTC devices, but fool me once shame on you fill me twice shame on me. Last HTC device EVER! Google Nexus here i come! Bye bye HTC way to keep your “PROMISES”

    and here we wait…still.

Unfortunately, it’s still within the “June-July” window for the Rezound update…but it’s still another three weeks to wait. I don’t know…kinda BS if you ask me.

I really like HTC phones…but with VZW taking a royal dump by not offering the HTC One X, I’m beginning to see a MOTO/Samsung lovefest pattern here.

AT&T and the rest are horrible compared to Verizon though. And that’s saying a lot. There are really only three companies that offer even a whiff of competition…

Like the Rezound, but not liking the wait for ICS for reasons already stated in Arlie’s posts. Seriously considering paying full shot for Samsung S3 or going back to iPhone when iPhone5 releases. Got to love that Apple doesn’t let carriers mess with their phones and updates are are sent out to all at same time. Android and their phone manufacturers needs to rein in carriers, especially Verizon.

Agreed on all points except that I can’t go back to an iPhone after using an Android phone.

I think VZW is really blowing it by not offering the HTC One series. Huge mistake.

This will be my last HTC phone. It may also be the last time I renew with verizon. Becausethere have been too many broken promises from both company’s and I feel cheated. It would have been different, if the Verizon store reps were more honest and not pushy towards a phone that has had many varied glitches.

The only reason that ICS was not out already was to encourage people to buy new phones to get the update rather than get the update on their current handset. Verizon and maybe HTC are holding back the update as long as possible… Which is not gonna do anything for them! All they are doing is pissing off customers. This was my first and soon to be last HTC phone, I will be making the jump to a Motorola handset as soon as possible.

Moto? You mean like the Bionic that also still doesn’t have ICS and still has data dropouts? Moto used to be good, but after my Bionic experience I can’t say that anymore.
