Motorola Droid RAZR HD Release Date Still Unknown

Published

on

The Motorola Droid RAZR HD has popped up once again though Verizon continues to be mum about the highly anticipated device and its release date.

Motorola’s Droid RAZR HD has leaked out numerous times since it initially surfaced in April. And while we have seen bits and pieces of the device and even purported photos, we still have no idea when the Droid RAZR HD is going to be hitting shelves.

It’s clear that there is a lot of interest in this phone. Both the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX are popular phones, however, they don’t boast HD screen resolution. Many consumers are hoping that the Droid RAZR HD will combine both HD screen quality and a battery the size of the 3,300mAh battery found in the Droid RAZR MAXX.

The Droid RAZR HD release date remains unknown, even after numerous leaks.

Combined those with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box, and Motorola and Verizon could have another hit on their hands.

Problem is, no one knows when to expect the device to arrive.

As of yet, there hasn’t even been a rumored Droid RAZR HD release date. There have only leaks showcasing the devices specs, which are impressive, and the Droid RAZR HD itself which appears to be very similar to the Droid RAZR MAXX and Droid RAZR from a design standpoint.

Droid RAZR HD camera images were spotted on Picasa.

However, that release date might be coming soon. First, the device has leaked out in some GLBenchmarks that confirm its 720p display and its speedy Snapdragon S4 processor. Droid-Life was the first to discover those benchmarks which, while not an indication of an imminent release, mean that the device is at least still around.

Second, AT&T is about to release the Motorola Atrix HD, a device that is very similar to the Droid RAZR in terms of design and boasts a stellar 720p display.

While we haven’t heard anything specific, it would make sense if the Atrix HD were to launch and then, after it’s given some breathing room, to see the Droid RAZR HD finally launch on Verizon.

With the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX upgraded to Android 4.0, the Samsung Galaxy S III now available on all four U.S. carriers, the iPhone 5 launch on the way, and the Atrix HD hitting shelves in a couple of days, Verizon would be smart to finally divulge some official information about the Droid RAZR HD’s release date.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled.

Anyone still holding out for the Droid RAZR HD?

Bump to 2Gb and it might be worth it… otherwise my Droid X might become an S3.

So you will move to at&t for a GB?

Verizon carries the S3. Contract was up in the beginning of June and heard rumors about this phone around Feb or March. Not waiting for ever when other carriers are cheaper and have very similar phones already.

So tired of them releasing phones that are “close” to the competition. If you want to make money then make one that is BETTER than the competition.

I’ve been told by Verizon to look to October as being the “Month of Phones” They apparently have a slew of new phones coming out in October and the HD is one of those phones. Verizon has been pretty open with me when I’ve asked about the HD. I was told by one person that it will coincide with the release of the iPhone 5 this Fall and I was told by another, “Probably October” so, with that in mind, I don’t know why all of these “reporters” say they have NO CLUE when it will be released. Well, I just gave you two clues. OCTOBER & FALL.

I changed my data plan. Based on the last few years of use, I really don’t need the unlimited plan and by changing, I saved $40 a month.

It would be in the salesforces best interest to tell you something like this, however, I doubt they actually ‘know’. I would think this date would seem logical but being so tightlipped about the release date, I wonder if there is an ‘undocumented feature’ Motorola is trying to track down.

Wouldn’t you know – my upgrade date is Aug 11. Do I have the ability to wait for the Droid Razr HD or will I just end up getting the Razr Maxx? Probaby the latter – because I am so impatient. I have had this Droid X for two long years and am ready to go with SOMETHING new… something…

I hope you guys are right about it being released in the Fall or October more specifically… I just want announcement day to come, lol. I have been following this phone for QUITE some time now. I hope they are waiting so it will come with Jelly Bean and/or 2GB of RAM to make it a game changer for Android… along with the other mentioned specs which are now expected for the Droid RAZR HD. I feel this would be wise if they want to “sell it” now because of the Galaxy S III and iPhone 5. My contract is up August 10, and I have been waiting for this phone patiently or at least news on it. I enjoy Motorola phone’s durability and have had my Droid 2 Global for almost 2 years, but I too am ready for something new. Their build quality, hardware, only slightly altered OS(compared to LG, HTC, & Samsung), call quality/reception, and battery life :) are why I prefer Moto. Hopefully the Droid RAZR HD’s new display will be even better than the Atrix HD and up to par with the new best HTC phones… or at least close. Then I can add display to that list.

But yes, I can’t wait for this phone! As I am on an old family unlimited data, text, & talk plan, I will not be on contract with Verizon again. I will have to purchase this phone at full price thanks to their push to tiered data plans :/ But with so many people on 1 unlimited data plan it is cheaper to stay with our plan and buy new phones full price… than to get a new contract & be screwed over by Verizon.
