Nexus 7 Goes On Sale at Staples This Week

The Google Nexus 7 tablet is hard to find in stores or online without numerous phone calls or the need for lots of patience.

While Staples stores in Ohio have not received their shipment of the Nexus 7 tablet, the Staples store in Findlay, OH says that the Nexus 7 will be available for sale between July 17th and July 21st.

Update: Staples only offers online pre-orders, the store associate was misinformed about in store pre-orders.

The retailer offers in store preorders for the 16GB version which retails for $249.

Users looking for the best way to get a Nexus 7 tablet without waiting for the Google Play Store shipments, should consider checking out their local Staples. In a fight to draw in consumers, Staples is betting big on tablets, with nearly a dozen models on display, and room for another small tablet.

The Google Nexus 7 launch is off to a rough start for shoppers who actually want to get their hands on the new Android tablet with a killer $199 price.

Online retailers report that they are out of stock and both GameStop and Sam’s Club have sold through their initial shipments at many locations. Office Depot continued to take online pre-orders through late Friday night.

After initially promising a July 17th delivery, my Nexus 7 order from Office Depot was marked as back ordered. Currently it shows an expected delivery of July 18th, still a week earlier than if I ordered from the Google Play Store.

Unfortunately the Google Play Store looks like the only retailer still taking online pre-orders. Both Staples and GameStop are accepting pre-orders for upcoming shipments, but GameStop won’t have the next round of pre-orders in until August 7th.

Srsly? The most I’ve seen are four: 1) Archos 80 G9, 2) Playbook, 3) Acer WTF, 4) Some other crap no one will buy.

Yep, none of them on, none of them even functional.

    Bet big? In whose self-delusion?

There were 2 end caps like that at my Staples, plus a nook and Kindle fire specific end caps. Maybe only 9 on display, but several empty spots and clearance models.

Staples has the best set up for the average shopper trying out tablets in our town.
