HTC One XL and HTC One S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Updates in the Works

Telstra, an Australian carrier, has confirmed that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for the HTC One XL and the HTC One S are in the works.

While HTC has only said that it is reviewing which devices it plans to upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Telstra has revealed that the company is already working on the updates for the HTC One XL and the HTC One S which means that owners might not have the normal long wait times that generally accompany major Android updates.

Of course, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has not been submitted to Telstra for testing so it’s unclear exactly what kind of time table owners are looking at.

The HTC One XL is known as the AT&T HTC One X in the United States and the HTC One S is on T-Mobile. Neither carrier has confirmed the update for either device but because they are new, they have as good of a shot as any as being updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The HTC One S will get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

In any event, this, at the very least, is confirmation that the HTC One XL and HTC One S and likely, the HTC One X, will be getting the upgrade to Google’s latest software.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean first started rolling out earlier this month, first hitting the Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+. It will be rolling out for the Motorola Xoom, Nexus S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus of all shapes and sizes in the near future. Those devices will be the first to get the update.

After those are updated, devices like the HTC One will see the software updates.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brings along a ton of new features including Google Now, re-sizable widgets, better Notifications, offline Voice dictation and an upgraded UI.
