Asus Transformer Pad Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Updates Confirmed

Asus has confirmed that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will roll out for the Transformer Pad Infinity, Transformer Pad 300 and the Transformer Prime.

The company has confirmed the roll outs with a message to owners of all three tablets, saying that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will be rolling out in the ‘coming months.’

Asus did not say whether that meant that they would roll out during the months of 2012. it did however say that it would update owners as to when exactly the software would be rolling out when the roll outs get closer.

Device owners should take Asus’ word as it has been one of the best Android manufacturers in terms of being communicative with customers about upgrades and their release dates.

Here is what Asus has been sending out to owners of the Asus Transformer Prime, Transformer Pad Infinity and Transformer Pad 300, according to Engadget:

At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our ‘Design Thinking’ philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.

We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.

We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.

The news comes shortly after Asus seemed to confirm Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for both the original Eee Pad Transformer and the Eee Pad Slider. Neither device was mentioned in today’s announcement.

So, it’s unclear if either of those devices will, in fact, see the update arrive.

Android 4.1 is going to bring a number of new features to all three of the tablets when it does arrive. Those features include Google Now, a smoother user interface, better Voice Search, offline Voice dictation, re-sizable widgets, customizable notifications, and lots more.

The software has just started rolling out to its initial devices including the Nexus S which just saw it’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out begin.
