Nexus 7 Sold Out In U.S. as Retailers Scramble to Meet Demand

Published

on

Google’s Nexus 7 tablet looks like a big success for the company, so much so that its difficult for new users to get their hands on one.

As SlashGear notes, the Nexus 7 tablet is sold out across the U.S. The Google Play Store lists the 16GB model of the tablet as “coming soon” with no option to buy one, and the 8GB model take 3-5 business days to ship. When the less popular version of a product is hard to come by, that’s a good sign that people really want the device.

Other retailers are sold out of the 7-inch tablet as well. SlashGear says some stores are “frantically” trying to get ahold of as much stock as they possibly can. Stores like GameStop, Staples, and Office Depot all sell the ASUS-made Google tablet, but none of them actually have the tablets to sell.

Retailers only sell the 16GB model of the Nexus 7, the same model that not even Google can’t keep in stock. Some stores are taking pre-orders for the next shipment, but last we heard that shipment isn’t expected to come in until next month.

A quick eBay search shows the Nexus 7 tablet selling for more than the $200 (8GB) and $250 (16GB) list prices. Some of the sales go as high as $300.

Users that don’t want to buy the tablet through eBay will have to wait. The wait might take a few weeks, but it’s better than paying more than necessary.
