Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 rumor mill is at work once again and this time we have some information, and possible confirmations about the device’s display and its processor.

PhoneArena has discovered a GLBenchmark for a device called the Samsung GT-N7100. The original Galaxy Note was dubbed the Samsung GT-N7000, so it’s pretty safe to assume that the device that has shown up in these benchmark scores is probably the upcoming Galaxy Note 2.

These new benchmarks reveal some interesting information about the Galaxy Note 2 in that it may come equipped with a quad-core Exynos processor, specifically the Exynos 4412.

The Galaxy Note 2 may include a quad-core processor.

That processor, at the moment, is clocked to a speedy 1.6GHz.

So, we could be looking at a 1.6GHz quad-core processor for the Galaxy Note which will make it much more powerful than the dual-core original Galaxy Note.

It also appears that the Galaxy Note will sport a 1280×720 resolution on its display instead of the 1680 x 1050 resolution that has been previously rumored.

The benchmarks also point to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as being on board but the device should show up with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean when and if it arrives later on this year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Rumors

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2, in addition to the quad-core processor rumors, supposedly packs a ton of new features on board its frame.

We’ve heard that Samsung might be outfitting it with a design similar to the Galaxy S III’s, a design inspired by nature, and it might be getting a screen size bump to 5.5-inches.

The original had a screen size of 5.3-inches.

n addition, it’s said to feature Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 1.5GB of RAM and 4G LTE connectivity. It also could come with a Samsung Exynos quad-core processor.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Release Date

As for the Galaxy Note 2 release date, we’ve heard two dates thus far for its launch, and we’ve heard that it might arrive as soon as September of this year.

The device is apparently going to launch at IFA in Berlin, Germany either on August 30th or August 31st.

We imagine that Samsung will launch the device shortly after the announcement.

Wow, quad core. But Something tells me that won’t make it to the USA. Still pretty sweet.

I’d be happy w/ dual core if it was the Exynos 5250 at 28nm.

And, I’ll be rather annoyed if they’ve narrowed the display. The main thing I liked about the Note was the wider display.

I guess I can see their reasoning though. People are using their devices more and more for video, and YouTube recommends 1280×720 for uploads.

    Shame though.
