Samsung Promises ‘Major’ Galaxy Announcement on August 15th

Samsung has announced that it will be making a ‘major’ Galaxy announcement on August 15th, although exactly what the company plans to unveil remains unclear.

The Verge is reporting that Samsung has sent out an invite for a U.S. press event that is scheduled to take place next month wherein the company will make a “major announcement and unveiling of the newest Galaxy device.”

Speculation rests on two devices at the moment. The first is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet which was first announced at Mobile World Congress in February but has yet to be released in the United States.

Might Samsung launch the Galaxy Note 10.1?

It recently went back up for pre-order in the U.S. though it seems to have appeared prematurely, like it did once before. The listing, that was once available at retailer J&R, has vanished into thin air.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 was originally announced with a dual-core processor, but the Galaxy Note 10.1 should be arriving with a quad-core Exynos processor. Samsung has also apparently added a nice little pen holder for the Galaxy Note’s 10.1 stylus.

Both of those enhancements are thought to be the reason why Samsung has taken so long to release the device but the company has not confirmed anything as of yet.

It’s also possible that we might see the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which has been rumored for August as well. However, that device has been pegged for IFA in Berlin and might be launching on August 30th or August 31st.

The original Galaxy Note was first shown off at IFA last year and it’s possible that Samsung will be doing something similar with the Galaxy Note 2.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to have a quad-core processor, 5.5-inch HD display and quite possibly, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board.

It could also possibly be the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze Q.

Those are the  big devices on our radar at the moment and because Samsung says that it’s a major product announcement, those two seem to the be the front-runners.
