Motorola Droid RAZR HD Release Date: What to Expect
Earlier today, we learned that the Motorola Droid RAZR HD passed through the FCC on its way to Verizon’s 4G LTE network. That should mean that those interested in the Droid RAZR HD should not have to wait too much longer to find out about the Droid RAZR HD release date.
While the Droid RAZR HD has leaked to the surface numerous times in the past, the device has yet to receive any sort of release date, official or unofficial. So, that means that the device’s launch still remains a complete mystery.
And while we’re might be days or weeks or months away from a Droid RAZR HD release date, we do have a pretty good idea about how the Droid RAZR HD launch and release will play out when Verizon finally gets around to putting the new Android smartphone on shelves.
The Droid RAZR HD release date could prove interesting.
Silence from Verizon
Right now, Motorola and Verizon have remained completely mum about the Droid RAZR HD and its release date. Don’t expect that to change until just before the device is set to launch.

This is how Verizon’s Android launches generally play out.
1. The device is rumored for weeks on end until we know everything about it. The Droid RAZR HD has essentially done just that.
2. Verizon and that manufacturer refuse to acknowledge its existence.
3. Rumored release dates come and go until finally there is one that seems to be the front-runner.
4. We get extremely close to that date and Verizon finally announces the device and we all breathe a sigh of relief while basking in a lack of surprise.
5. Some type of snag occurs.
6. Repeat.
That is literally how many Verizon launches play out. Not all of them, but many. Will that process happen for the Droid RAZR HD? It sure seems like a possibility now that we are in the midst of steps one and two.
Droid RAZR HD Release Date Before/After October
While we still don’t have an official release date for the Droid RAZR HD, we don’t expect the device to launch during the month of October. Why? Because that month is likely going to be the month in which Apple launches the iPhone 5.
Right now, the end of September and October seem like the best bets for an iPhone 5 launch and Verizon is going to want to either get a head start on the iPhone 5 by launching it prior to October or release it afterwards after the smoke has settled.
We’re leaning towards the former as the Nexus 4, Google’s next Nexus device will likely be launching in the winter months and the Droid RAZR HD’s launch would likely take a hit because of that.
An Affordable Device
Verizon might not be the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to launches, but one thing that seems to have vanished from its repertoire is a penchant for over pricing its 4G LTE Android smartphones.
The Droid Incredible 4G LTE launched for a very cool $149.99 on-contract and we have seen the carrier swiftly drop the prices of some of its other Android smartphones.
In order to stay competitive with not only the Android competition, but the iPhone 5 as well, Verizon will need to have an attractive price tag attached to the Droid RAZR HD, even if it’s a high-end phone.
If it decides to charge $299.99 on-contract, consumers won’t flock like they would to a starting price of $199.99.
A Fair Amount of Interest
If the price tag is attractive, this phone should definitely get a lot of interest from consumers on launch day. This is a phone that may take the best of the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX and combine it into a package that also includes Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and an high-definition 720p display.
While the 3,300 mAh battery, the battery found in the RAZR MAXX, has not yet been confirmed, Motorola and Verizon would be smart to include it as it has propelled sales of the Droid RAZR MAXX.
Toss that battery in with a HD display, a thin design, 4G LTE data speeds, a fantastic camera, and a speedy processor and this might just be a device that gives the Samsung Galaxy S III a run for its money.
Are we expecting lines out the door for this device? Probably not. But we do expect that there will be many intrigued by its capabilities.

Gotta get this out prior to iPhone 5. The sooner the better or the masses of iPhone users will just wait a short amount of time for 5. I believe this device will lure iPhone users to try it.

I’ve been with Verizon since before they were a company. They inherited my account from the previous cell company and the one before that.
I don’t like these games AT ALL. I need a new phone NOW. My phone is not working well and I keep holding out for this new droid HD. but they keep pulling this stuff it makes me so angry I’m ready to switch to ATT just to get the hell away from VZ.

With all these awesome phones on verizon now, just upgrade already. Bottom line is new devices are going to come every year in abundance, its hard to jump on whats new each time it comes out. Overall you dont have to because like the samsung galaxy s3 it comes with a dual core snapdragon which is a better dual core processor then what we have later but the othe dual cores are still competitive. Barley a half of second faster really is no biggie, not worth an upgrade. I have a droid razr, excellent device, smart actions smooth, and fast and built of quality. I had this since November. Probably wont upgrade to the s3 nor razr hd. Ill wait for US quad core with lte and a possible 2gb of ram. Now that will be worth the upgrade and keep you in the game for 2 to 3 years.

I agree by the time the Razr Hd comes out it will already be obsolete and the atrix hd has come out on AT&T,not to mention AT&T and Sprint have a much better line up the only one verizon has it up on is T-mobile,I bet this will cost verizon alot of customers who will not renew their contracts.
