By  |  0 Comments

Official Nexus 7 case went up for sale in the Google play store earlier this week, and is now shipping to early buyers.

Initial estimates said that the official Nexus 7 case would ship in 3 to 5 business days, but my order shipped and will show up sometime Monday afternoon.

The Nexus 7 case is $19.99, with two-day shipping as the only delivery option. Even at $30 delivered, it is much cheaper that we have seen the Nexus 7 case sell for on eBay.

The Nexus 7 case is light grey and made of hard plastic. The case fits both the 8GB and 16GB models, protecting the front and back of the device.

This official case snaps on to the Nexus 7, providing form-fitting protection that aftermarket cases often cannot deliver.

Rumors suggest the Nexus 7 case includes a magnet on the screen portion capable of waking up and putting the Nexus 7 to sleep, much like the iPad Smart Cover. Unlike the Smart Cover, the front screen protecting part of the case does not fold up to provide a typing angle or prop the Nexus 7 up in landscape mode to watch a movie.

The official Nexus 7 case is not available in stores yet, and it isn’t clear when it will be available as Google struggles to meet demand for the tablet online and in traditional retail stores.

The Google Play Store still lists the Nexus 7 case as in stock, with 3-5 days or estimated delivery. The case is $19.99 and re only shipping option is 2 say shipping for $9.99.

Asus may soon sell the case in a variety of colors, but like the Nexus 7 audio dock, there’s no word on a release date.

The Nexus 7 tablet is available in 8GB for $199 an 16GB for $249. Early indicators show high demand for this affordable tablet, which is good news for Android users who are used to a lot of choice on the hardware side, but a lacking aftermarket due.
