Good news for owners of the HTC Trophy on Verizon as it appears as though the Windows Phone Tango update is on the verge of rolling out.

While Verizon has not sent word about the HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update, it has posted information on the HTC Trophy Windows Phone Tango update that will bring a number of enhancements to Verizon’s Windows Phone device and quite possibly, set it up for a future update to Windows Phone 7.8.

Windows Phone 7.8 is the stripped down version of Windows Phone 8 that will be coming to select Windows Phone devices later on this year.

The HTC Trophy Tango update is close.

The HTC Trophy’s Tango update is apparently going to rolling out tomorrow, August 1st, this according to a document from AndroidGuys that may or may not be authentic. That document claimed that the HTC Rezound ICS update would roll out on July 29th, something that did not happen.

It lists August 1st as the roll out date for the HTC Trophy Tango update. However, the fact that the update has shown up on Verizon’s website is a good sign that something is in the works. If not tomorrow, then it will likely roll out soon.

Here is what’s new in the Tango update for the HTC Trophy:

Device Features

  • +  The device is now Wi-Fi Hotspot capable. This function can be turned on with
the “Internet Sharing” feature under Settings. With this feature, you will have the ability to share your mobile data connection with up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices. Data charges will apply.
  • +  Enhanced multimedia messaging capabilities: • Multi-picture attachments
    • Video attachments
    • Send/receive ringtones

The HTC Trophy remains Verizon’s only high-end Windows Phone offering though the carrier has said that it will be carrying Windows Phone 8 powered devices when the software launches later on this year.
