A video has emerged offering a look at what is allegedly a front panel for the upcoming iPhone 5, Apple’s next-generation smartphone.

The video was posted by ETradeSupply, courtesy of MacRumors, and it depicts a supposed front panel of the iPhone 5 compared to the front panel of the iPhone 4S.

This leak is in line with previous leaks, including our exclusive iPhone 5 engineering sample photos, which depict a taller iPhone 5 display. Apple has been rumored to be bumping up the screen size of the iPhone to 4-inches with the iPhone 5.

The glass provides 17% more viewing area for the display, which is a substantial increase.

A purported iPhone 5 front panel has emerged today on video.

It also appears that the space between the bottom of the display and the bottom of the device’s panel is now 2.6mm shorter which, again, would leave Apple with plenty of room to increase the size of the display.

We also see that the FaceTime camera, the iPhone 5’s front-facing camera, has been moved to a position above the iPhone’s earpiece.

The alleged front panel on the iPhone 5 is apparently a 0.1mm thinner than the one on the iPhone 4S which isn’t much, but is a sign that Apple might be slimming down the iPhone 5 as is rumored.

iPhone 5 Rumors

The iPhone 5 will replace the iPhone 4S as Apple’s latest generation smartphone when it arrives. And while Apple has not yet confirmed anything, the device has leaked out on numerous occasions revealing some of what may be on board the iPhone 5.

Rumored features include a 4-inch display, 4G LTE capabilities, NFC support and 1GB of RAM tucked inside of its design as well as a quad-core processor, a thin design, a metal backing instead of a glass one and a high-definition front-facing camera for improved video chat.

The iPhone 5 is also rumored to have a thin design, possibly under the 8mm mark, and it’s also rumored to have a 4-inch display.

iPhone 5 Release Date

Like the iPhone 5 itself, the release date of the iPhone 5 remains a mystery, though, we think that we might have a bead on when Apple plans to launch and release it.

Numerous publications chimed in to say that Apple plans on announcing the iPhone 5 on September 12th and releasing it a few days later on September 21st.

This would be a change from the assumed October launch month, the same month that Apple launched the iPhone 4S last year.
