Sony Xperia Mint Appears In Photos

Published

on

The Xperia Mint looks like Sony’s next big smartphone, but the company just can’t keep it a secret.

Phandroid found two new photos of the device from Bulgarian site NixanBal. The images are surprisingly sharp and show off the design of the new Sony Xperia Mint (also called Sony Xperia T) without any ambiguity. Judging by the photos, Sony finally has a smartphone that at least looks as good as the HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S III.

The Sony Xperia Mint feature a 4.3-inch 720p Bravia Engine display, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, and a 13MP Exmor rear-facing camera. Based on those specs, that phone might be as fast as the previously mentioned flagships from HTC and Samsung.

Sony Xperia Mint

The photos show the Xperia Mint running at least Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with virtual buttons. We hope Sony will release the phone with Jelly Bean, but after the Xperia Ion, it’s nice to finally see an ICS phone from the company.

Whatever version of Android the Xperia Mint runs, Sony skinned it heavily. Like the overall external design, the Android skin on the Xperia Mint looks similar to the skin on other recent Xperia phones.

NixanBal says the Xperia Mint is close to launch, and the phone in the images certainly looks like a final product rather than a prototype. Sony could announce the phone at its IFA presentation in the first week of September. We hope a U.S. announcement and release will follow, but given Sony’s past, we likely won’t see the phone until sometime early next year.

Good scoop. What carrier will this be launching under? Sounds like this could give the new razr hd some competition but what about battery and camera?
