Sony has a brand new Xperia-branded tablet in the works and while we knew some details about the upcoming device, we now have our first look at it.

The original post that leaked the tablet over at XDA-Developers forums, courtesy of UnwiredView, has been updated with the press images of the upcoming Sony Xperia tablet that is set to replace Sony’s current line of devices which includes the Sony Tablet P and the Sony Tablet S.

These photos are accompanied by some new leaked features that will supposedly accompany the Xperia tablet to shelves whenever it arrives.

The Xperia tablet has leaked.

The photos detail a design that is similar to that of the Tablet S. We can see the fold that will be on board the new tablet. A similar folded design was found on the Tablet S.

We also get a look at its design which is said to measure 8.8mm thick, 42% thinner than the design of the Xperia S tablet.

The Xperia tablet is also rumored to include a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a 9.4-inch display with 1280×800 screen resolution, a 1MP front-facing camera, and an 8MP camera in the rear.

It’s also said to be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher which means that it could be coming with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from the start.

Earlier rumors pegged the Xperia tablet as having 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB storage options and also 3G connectivity. As of yet, there is no word on a 4G LTE option.

The Xperia tablet is said to cost just $50 less than the new iPad all around. The 16GB will sell for $449, the 32GB will sell for $549, and the 64GB model will sell for $649.

And while the tablet has surfaced in extensive detail, its release date remains unknown though, IFA in Berlin is coming up and it would be a perfect place for Sony to launch a new tablet device to compete against the likes of the iPad, Nexus 7, and quite possibly the iPad Mini this holiday season.
