T-Mobile Samsung Odyssey Rumors: Windows Phone 8, 4G LTE
A leaked user agent string seems to have unearthed a gem of a smartphone headed to T-Mobile in the form of the 4G LTE capable, Windows Phone 8 powered Samsung Odyssey.
TMoNews has leaked out a user agent string which reveals a Windows Phone device headed to T-Mobile. The device is believed to be the high-end Samsung Odyssey that we heard about back in July.
If this indeed the Samsung Odyssey, it could very well end up being T-Mobile’s first Windows Phone 8 device as it’s running Interne Explorer 10 which is on board Microsoft’s new operating system.
Also revealed is that the device has support for 4G LTE data speeds which means it could end up running on T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network which is slated to arrive in 2013. The carrier has not yet given the network a firm roll out date but we know it will test the new throughout 2012.
The Samsung Odyssey has also seen some of its other parts leak out. Rumored features include a 4.65-inch HD display – same as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, support for both 4G LTE and HSPA+ – LTE has now seemingly been confirmed, a 2MP camera in the front, an 8MP camera in the rear, and NFC support for mobile payments.
It’s also rumored to have a dual-core processor, something that Windows Phone 8 will support.
A release date for the device is not yet known though Windows Phone 8 is rumored to be launching at the end of September and coming to shelves in November.

Microsoft has still not attached a firm date to the new software which represents the company’s biggest mobile effort since Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
Of course, current Windows Phone owners will not see the update. Instead, select devices will get an upgrade to Windows Phone 7.8 instead which is a stripped down version of Windows Phone 8 that only includes bits and pieces of the bigger update.
Thus far, we’ve only heard that Nokia Lumia phones will be getting Windows Phone 7.8 though we expect more devices to get upgraded later when the updates arrive.
