HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich Update Leaks

Published

on

Just a few short days ahead of the end of August, the HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update has leaked for those rooted ThunderBolt owners out there who want to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich early.

TeamBAMF has leaked the official update which is build 7.00.605.2 and will not only take ThunderBolt owners to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich but to Sense 3.6 as well.

It’s unclear if this is the final version or not, we’ll assume that it’s not for now, which means that those who are not well-versed in the art of flashing ROMs or rooting an Android smartphone will likely want to wait for the official HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update to arrive.

The HTC ThunderBolt update has finally leaked.

This is the first real sign that Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC ThunderBolt is on the way, an update that has been in peril for quite sometime.

We had heard that even though HTC had promised the update by the end of August, the company was still going back and forth about whether it would release the software. This leak seems to confirm that something is on the way.

Hopefully, HTC will be able to release the update before the month of August ends though we aren’t holding our breath at the moment.

The company completely missed the HTC Rezound release window which was slated for June or July but didn’t arrive until the month of August.

It’s certainly possible that HTC and Verizon might miss the August roll out window with the HTC ThunderBolt as well, considering the issues that have arisen with the the Ice Cream Sandwich updates for more powerful smartphones like the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX.

We’ll be on the look out for any release date news but this should hold over those who are rooted and have been looking fora way to update their aging HTC ThunderBolt to Ice Cream Sandwich.

I’m not holding my breath either, but I’m ok with it. If Gingerbread was anything to go by – October is probably more likely than end of August. Customer service at HTC is still confirming that it is in fact coming, and with Sense 3.6.

There’s no such thing as leak, it’s call using the mass as testers.
I’ve tried the “leak”, and from the looks of things, it’ll be usable by 2014.
