Specs and Model Numbers Leaked for Samsung’s Windows Phone 8 Smartphones
In the past, we’ve heard about Samsung releasing two new Windows Phone 8 smartphones with the code names Marco and Odyssey, though little were known about those two devices at the time. Now, we’re getting a bit more of an idea as to what these phones will sport in terms of hardware specs as well as their model numbers. The Marco is a more mid-range device and bears the model number Samsung GT-I8370 while the Odyssey has the model number GT-I8750 and is considered the more high-end device. Given Samsung’s past branding of its Windows Phone lineup, both smartphones should fall under the Omnia moniker.
Sam Mobile has obtained the leaked specs for these devices. The site is reporting that these new phones are headed to Europe in the last quarter of this year. Likely, Samsung may offer variants for the U.S. market; the company has released Windows Phone Omnia smartphones for U.S. carrier AT&T in the past.
Here are the specs:
The Samsung GT-I8370 Omnia ??? (Marco)
- 4.0” WVGA Super Amoled display
- 5 megapixel camera (back)
- 1.9 megapixel camera (front)
- 8GB + Micro SD.
- Dual Krait 1.5Ghz
Price between 350 – 450 euro.
The Samsung GT-I8750 Omnia ??? (Odyssey)
- 4.8” HD Super Amoled display
- 8 megapixel camera (back)
- 1.9 megapixel (front)
- 16/32GB + Micro SD.
- Dual Krait 1.5Ghz
Price between 500 – 600 euro.
It’s nice to see that both phones will at least get dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPUs, which are also present on devices like the U.S. release of the Galaxy S III from Samsung and the HTC One X and One S series. Additionally, the jump to an HD Super AMOLED screen on the Odyssey is a nice one as it will match the specs of most high-end Android smartphones–previous Windows Phone smartphones were capped at a WVGA resolution running the Windows Phone 7 operating system.
The Odyssey was previously rumored to be arriving Stateside to carrier T-Mobile and may ship with 4G LTE support for that carrier’s network, which is expected to start going live sometime in 2013.
