Leaving My Bag at Home With Scottevest (Video)

on

One of my favorite things about the proliferation of mobile technology and speedy cellular networks is the ability to work wherever I want to go.

It should come as no surprise that I’m a gadget bag freak. I love trying new bags to tote my gear around town and across the country, but when I’m heading out for an afternoon of work or to visit my in-laws I like to take the essentials without carrying a bag.

Here’s where the Scottevest comes in. I load up a Scottevest Fleece 5.0 for CES 2012 every year to carry my gear around the show and avoid an extra carry on. I don’t need this much gear for an afternoon out, so I turn to the Scottevest Front Snap Shirt.

The $80 Scottevest shirt is lightweight enough to wear in the summer with the sleeves rolled up, and it looks like a dress shirt, complete with accented sleeves.

Here’s what I put in my Scottevest shirt for an afternoon of mobile work.

In the video I pack in the following gadgets and gear.

Snap Front Pockets ScotteVest

The Snap Front Shirt offers six pockets.

Unlike the Transformer Jacket and other Scottevest vests, there is no place to put a tablet or a computer. But, I can carry my MacBook Air in a sleeve or my iPad with the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard case and be ready for work without a bag.

In this video I only packed a few items in the shirt, but if I plan to be out all day I’ll also throw in an iPhone battery case and I’ll wire up the headphones with the personal network so they are ready to reach by my ears.

With this amount of gear I don’t look like a walking gadget salesman, and the only time I noticed any of the gear was while sitting in my car, as the MiFi hit the seat’s curve.

Users that need to pack more than this can easily put a lot more gear into the Snap Front Shirt as Xavier shows in the video below.

The flexibility is one reason I love the Scottevest gear. There’s room for all kinds of gadgets, and every shirt or coat features a vast array of pockets. But, even if i don’t use all the pockets every time I go out, the shirt or vest delivers great value.

It’s not about stuffing every pocket full, it’s about finding the right pocket for the trip — and Scottevest gear delivers the perfect mix of pocket sizes and placement.
