LG Finally Announces Flagship Optimus G Android Smartphone

Published

Whatever G stands for–perhaps it is for Google–LG is now announcing it’s high-end Android flagship that bears the Optimus G name. The device, which was previously leaked a number of times, brings with it quad-core Snapdragon S4 computing power whereas other S4 smartphones on the market today are capped with a dual-core architecture. The device will have 4G LTE connectivity, and the only downside right now is that LG is only announcing it for its home country of South Korea. At this time, it’s unclear when the LG Optimus G will make it to carriers in other countries. The company is saying that the phone will be going to other countries later this year.

The device features a slim bezel, in-cell display technology, and a True HD resolution IPS LCD screen. The bezel is only 3 mm and LG says that when the screen turns off, it’s virtually impossible to differentiate where the screen is from the bezel according to a report on Engadget. The display is 4.7 inches and is nearly edge-to-edge given the thin bezel.

The device will have 2 GB RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, front-facing camera, and a 2100 mAh battery. The Optimus G is also a slim phone, clocking in at 8 mm thick.

Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the phone at IFA.
