HTC EVO 4G LTE Update Brings Sense 4.1, Bug Fixes

Published

on

Owners of Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G LTE are in for a treat today as the carrier has rolled out an update for the device that not only brings about some Ice Cream Sandwich bug fixes but HTC Sense 4.1 as well.

Sprint announced the update on its community website and while the update isn’t exactly the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, it’s one that owners will likely want to install.

First and foremost, the software is going to come with a bunch of Ice Cream Sandwich bug fixes that should squash some of the issues that EVO 4G LTE owners have been having with the device.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE received a fantastic update today.

Specifically, Sprint mentions that it has fixed the browser so it no longer closes when using bookmarks. It also says that it has fixed a problem with the device’s Bluetooth.

Sprint has also added the latest versions of Google Wallet and Visual Voicemail and in addition, it says that its graced the EVO 4G LTE with LTE scanning improvements which should make it easier to pick up a 4G LTE signal.

That’s not all though. In addition, Sprint added the new HTC Sense 4.1 in the update which brings a couple of different items to the table over Sense 4.0.

The recent apps button can now be used a menu button, much in the same way it works on the HTC One X for AT&T. There is also a Quick Settings tab that can be found in the Notification Bar. This little feature allows owners to quickly access and change settings around.

The list includes everything from Wi-Fi to Airplane Mode.

This update is rolling out Over-the-Air (OTA) it seems and that means that owners of the HTC EVO 4G LTE should head into the device’s Settings and check in the About section for an update.

Has anyone noticed the special ringtones assigned to contacts do not work. All calls come in with the phone ringtone not the contact ringtone. Any ideas?

Since my updates (Android version: 4.0.4 and HTC Sense version: 4.1) for my HTC EVO 4G LTE, all my contact ringtones play only the default ringtones.

Do a phone restart. This happens to me when my phone is on for 200 or so hours. Not power off, restart.

Also having only my default ringtone.l Spoke with Sprint for over an hour and the supervisor (Anthony) said he had never heard of this problem and I needed to restart my phone and remove my battery(?!?) I did a restart. Did not restore my ringtones – even though they are assigned on the contacts!

I am having the same problem! All my assigned ringtones are set to the default ringtone. I’ve restarted my phone twice and it didn’t fix the problem. I hope a update comes out soon!

I talked with Sprint who gave me a number for HTC support. HTC is aware of the problem, but no information on when it might be fixed… they are working on it..

I also have the default ringtone problem. It’s the update. I restarted several times and went so far as to HARD Reset. It’s the update. No matter what custom ringtones you have set for contacts only the DEFAULT ringtone rings. Very, very annoying!

I have the same problem. It’s obviously a glitch in the update. Took the phone to BB Mobile, but they cannot fix it. There are no “over-ride” settings where the default ringtone gets priority over individual ones. I only have two individual ringtones, but i want them when those people call. Let’s hope they update the update soon!

Since the update, I’ve been unable to receive/send text messages; my browser crashes frequently once a web page loads; youtube videos are missing sound; and my wifi is still buggy (cuts in and out randomly). I’m also unable to take screenshots in certain apps. When I try to back my phone up to my computer (so I can do a factory reset without losing all my stuff), it stalls out halfway through and crashes. This is pretty much the worst update of all time. But I think I can still set individual ringtones…yay me?

Same Issue. I spoke with a Sprint rep today, she said that there was a fix update released but it was taken down because it also had issues. Sprint is aware of the problem and will release an update when HTC fixes the problem.

I have same issue with ringtones.
Also, does phone restart randomly and send old messages when it is back up?

Have ringtone issue and have to send back as something is wrong with antenna or something as service is barely usable. And what designer genius thought the USB plug should be moved and of all places put on the resting side of the phone when using the kick stand?

Ok so is anybody having Bluetooth issues since the update? Before the update 2 months ago my bluetooth was flawless. Now it kicks in and out at random….very annoying. This seems to be just the opposite of what the majority of users here were experiencing. Am I the only one?

Same issues on mine with the Bluetooth… It connects and disconnects as it pleases. Very disruptive while driving. Has anyone found a solution to this?
