Earlier, we told you that the Sprint Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean update would be trickling out to owners over the next week or so. And while it will continue to do so, there may be a way for some Galaxy Nexus owners to pull the Jelly Bean update manually right now.
We have received proof from a Sprint Galaxy Nexus owner in California that the update is indeed rolling out. His Galaxy Nexus was updated earlier today from Ice Cream Sandwich to Jelly Bean.
So, again, the update is rolling out folks, it’s just moving slowly.

In any event, what’s interesting is how he pulled the update. Instead of getting a prompt, he decided to try a little trick that has worked for some Android updates in the past.
Very simply, he went into the device’s Google Service’s framework and by stopping it and clearing data, he was able to get the Sprint Galaxy Nexus to pull the update from Google.
Specifically, here is how to do what he did:
1. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All
2. Find Google Services Framework.
3. Tap on Force Stop.
4. Select Clear Data.
5. Head back to the Sprint Galaxy Nexus’ Settings, go to About, and check for a System Update.
After doing that, there may be an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean waiting for you. Unfortunately, this method may not work for everybody trying to use it.
It’s at least worth a try though as the Sprint Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean update is rolling out extremely slow and likely won’t hit all devices for a week or more.

In any event, at least we now have proof that the software is indeed rolling out and that should mean that some Nexus S 4G owners are seeing the update today as well.
Sprint rolled the Jelly Bean update out to the Nexus S 4G as well.

worked after a few tries. Final solution was to force stop Google Services Framework, Clear Data, then immediately power off and power on. Upon power up settings=> check for system update….

i had to do it around 8 to 9 times but finnally got it to work now waiting to install. Jelly Bean i feel kinda diabetic already lol….it does work. FYI i am in florida

I posted onces before saying it didn’t work.. a couple hours later I tryed and on the first try the update has started downloading Thanks… in .. ,Indiana
It took me about 5 or 6 tries but it is downloading as I type.

google framework services does not remember it was forced to stop. It restarted fine.
I’ve been trying this since the first day it was recommended and now I’ve been doing what Bill suggested and still nothing. Nothing happening here in Chicago with my Galaxy Nexus

I Tried doing per instructions but only thing that happend was…google play store is inaccessible and i even coded in on dial pad per qbking77 instructions but no luck yet and Sprint is like ..huh ehat update so u trully r on yer own to get this ota update..but thanks for atleast the shot @it.. -chicago

Can anyone confirm that they were able to do this with WIFI turned on? Is it implicit in OTA delivery that it cannot come via WIFI? Seems likely to me, but no empirical evidence supporting this assertion.
Okay, so I’d been trying this since last week with no success… BUT, had never tried doing multiple times in a row. Exact steps for success for me:
1. WIFI off
2. Following Bill Cusack, force stop, clear data, reboot, check for update, but no dice.
3. force stop, clear data, check for update, WIN.
Downloading update now. Pity it has to be via Sprint’s anemic 3G network here in Seattle.
I received the jelly bean update via WiFi. It seems it was sent out for the Motorola xoom tablet but my device picked it up and downloaded it perfectly
Just followed Bill’s process with 1st try success in Las Vegas!
Its not working for me trying to upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1
Is there a risk if you do this, that the phone will stop working completely (As you are forcing google services framework to force stop)?
