Nokia Lumia 920 Release Date on AT&T Possible for November 2

Earlier this week Nokia announced its flagship Windows Phone 8 device, the Lumia 920, but failed to announce a release date for the smartphone. New rumors say the company could release the phone in early November on AT&T.

According to The Verge and TechRadar, Nokia will release the new yellow smartphone on November 2 on AT&T. The Nokia Lumia 920 is in AT&T’s testing labs right now with November 2 as the target release date If all goes well, the phone will likely launch on that date.

There is a possibility, however, that AT&T will have to delay the launch. If the carrier finds serious flaws in the phone it may have to push the release into later November. We don’t know if there’s a fallback date just in case, but we hope the phone isn’t delayed.

Two months is already a long time to wait for a smartphone, especially when Apple will launch and release the iPhone 5 within three weeks of the phone’s launch.

Microsoft will likely finish the software on the device sometime within the next week, which should help AT&T sign off on the Lumia 920. The phones Nokia showed this week looked like final devices, or at least they must have been if Nokia was willing to show them off. The software wasn’t finalized however, and we heard from several reporters that Nokia wouldn’t let them really use the phone because of the unfinished software.

We sadly don’t know how much the Lumia 920 will cost when it launches on AT&T, assuming these reports are true. The Nokia Lumia 900 launched on AT&T earlier this year for $99, but it had older specs. Nokia would likely take a huge loss on a $99 Lumia 920, which it can’t afford at the moment without help.
