Verizon Galaxy S III Signal Strength Issues Frustrate Owners

Published

on

It would appear that Samsung Galaxy S III owners on Verizon have been experiencing signal strength issues with their new device, leaving owners wondering when Verizon might get around to solving the issue.

In a forum post on Verizon’s website, Galaxy S III owners have detailed the issue in a series of posts that dates back all the way to July, with the most recent being from today. We’ve also heard from numerous Verizon Galaxy S III owners who have complained about these exact issues.

The posts on Verizon’s website indicate that Galaxy S III owners are having issues connecting to 4G LTE and 3G to go along with weak, Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Verizon Galaxy S III is plagued by connection issues.

And now, frustrated owners are now wondering when Samsung and Verizon might get around to fixing these problems as they have seemingly persisted for many months now.

As of right now, Verizon has not said when Galaxy S III owners might expect a fix for the issue. For now, there does appear to be a manual method that might help owners mitigate the connectivity issues, at least for now.

A user posted instructions that seem to have helped Galaxy S III owners who have been experiencing connectivity issues and it might be worth Galaxy S III owners time to give it a shot:

  1. Turn off device.
  2. Remove back cover and take SIM Card and Battery out.
  3. Wait a few minutes.
  4. Replace battery and back cover (but not SIM Card).
  5. Turn on phone.
  6. When able to, turn phone off again.
  7. Remove back cover and battery.
  8. Replace battery, SIM Card, and back cover.
  9. Turn device back on.

Unfortunately, because we aren’t experiencing the issue, we can’t verify if this works but again, it reportedly has worked for some Verizon Galaxy S III owners who have been experiencing issues.

We have also posted instructions about how to fix Wi-Fi connectivity but it doesn’t appear that they have helped everyone.

As for a wide-ranging fix, it’s probable that Samsung and Verizon will fix the issues with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update which is slated to hit the Verizon Galaxy S III at some point in the future. The leak Jelly Bean update for the international Galaxy S III seems to have improved Wi-Fi connectivity and we assume that that feature will come to the Verizon model as well.

We have heard that the update might land in the U.S. by the end of the month though it’s unclear if that update will be for Verizon’s version of the device.

In the meantime Galaxy S III owners, try those fixes, they may wind up solving your issues.

Thanks David!
