Nexus S 4G Jelly Bean Update Continues to Roll Out

Published

on

Just like the Sprint Galaxy Nexus Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, the Nexus S 4G Jelly Bean update continues to roll out to users and will likely see a more widespread roll out today.

Sprint announced that the Nexus S 4G Jelly Bean update is rolling out today, several days after the update first started rolling out to owners of the Nexus S 4G.

The carrier originally announced that the Nexus S 4G update would begin rolling out on September 6th though we learned that it would likely take a week or more for all Nexus S 4G owners to see it.

The Nexus S 4G Jelly Bean update should arrive for more owners today.

While the update had been trickling out to owners, today’s announcement likely means that the update will now start rolling out on a more widespread level.

Sprint is saying that the update will prompt Nexus S 4G owners with a message when the update is available which means that owners will likely have to wait for the software to roll out OTA.

We say likely because there is a manual trick that worked for some Galaxy Nexus owners that may work for Nexus S 4G owners.

For those that are impatient, this is worth a try:

1. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All

2. Find Google Services Framework.

3. Tap on Force Stop.

4. Select Clear Data.

5. Head back to the Nexus S 4G’s Settings, go to About, and check for a System Update.

We can’t say if this will work but it’s worth a shot nonetheless.

If it doesn’t, remain patient. The update will likely be arriving in the next couple of days if it doesn’t touch down today.

As with the Sprint Galaxy Nexus Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, the update for the Nexus S 4G comes with several enhancements for owners with disabilities.

With Jelly Bean, Nexus S 4G and Galaxy Nexus join the growing list of phones with added accessibility features for those with disabilities. It allows the blind to use “Gesture Mode” to reliably navigate the UI using touch and swipe gestures in combination with speech output. It also adds accessibility plugin support for external Braille input and output devices using Bluetooth and USB.

All the more reason to install Jelly Bean.

When I try to foreclose it warns me about issues occurring if I foreclose. Should I be worried?

This update sucks! Before the update, my Nexus S worked fine. After, my corporate e-mail no longer syncs up. The phone says it is sync’ing successfully, yet nothing new appears in the e- mail. was fine before this downgrade to Jelly Bean.
