Sprint iPhone 5 Starts to Sell Out

Published

on

Earlier today, AT&T and Verizon saw their iPhone 5 shipping dates slip beyond the device’s September 21st launch date and now Sprint is feeling the heat as well as one of its devices is now sold out and we expect the other two to sell out soon as well.

Sprint’s website, which earlier today stated that it would still be delivering iPhone 5’s by September 21st, now lists the 16GB iPhone 5 as shipping out in up to two weeks.

Currently, both the 32GB and 64GB models are on track for September 21st delivery, though, we suspect that that could change in the near future.

Sprint’s iPhone 5 is beginning to sell out.

By comparison, all of AT&T and Verizon’s iPhone 5 pre-orders are sold out with AT&T’s website listing delivery times of up to three weeks while Verizon says that it will deliver iPhone 5 models by September 26th.

While AT&T’s website was unreliable for those looking to place pre-orders, we have heard of no such tales from those hoping to pre-order through Sprint and Verizon.

Customers looking to pre-order through AT&T were greeted with long loading times, site crashes and more while trying to secure an iPhone 5 for September 21st. Those who weren’t quick to pull the trigger are now facing long wait times.

All three carriers began selling the iPhone 5 at midnight offering up six different iPhone 5 variants to customers. Starting at $199.99 for a 16GB model, the iPhone 5 goes up to 64GB in storage which runs for $399.99. All three storage options, which includes a 32GB model as well, come in both black and white.

The iPhone 5 with its new 4-inch screen and taller design will run on 4G LTE networks in the United States. Sprint currently only possesses 19 LTE markets in the U.S. as opposed to over 70 for AT&T and over 300 for Verizon. This is likely a reason why Sprint’s models are not completely sold out yet.

Those looking to get the iPhone 5 with Sprint are in luck though as Tthe carrier promised over 100 4G LTE markets for the rest of 2012.
