Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Update Delivers Must Have Feature

Published

on

The international version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which just launched earlier this month, just received a fantastic update today that has added one of the device’s must have features.

According to Kevin Tofel of GigaOm, the international version of the Galaxy Note 2 received a small update today that brings support for the split screen multitasking feature that Samsung has been touting as one of the benefits of the Galaxy Note 2.

Some owners of the UK version of the Galaxy Note 2, in addition to those who decided to import the device, had been without the feature since launch. The feature allows users to run multiple apps at the same time, a feature that is perfect for the Galaxy Note 2’s monstrous HD display that checks in at a whopping 5.5-inches.

Users can now simply press and hold the back button found on the Galaxy Note 2 and a new launcher menu will appear, allowing users to drag in applications that they wish to use simultaneously.

Samsung’s built-in applications work with the feature but it also appears that third-party applications work with the software as well. That means that users can surf the web while looking at their tweets if they so choose.

While this was an issue on international versions of the device, we doubt it will be an issue on the U.S.-bound version of the Galaxy Note 2 which is set to launch in the U.S. on October 24th.

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless are all slated to offer the Galaxy Note 2, though, release dates for all five devices remain unknown at this point.

The Galaxy Note 2 is an extremely unique smartphone in that it combines the qualities of a smartphone, (it allows users to talk on the phone) with those of a tablet (users can use an S-Pen stylus to write on the massive 5.5-inch display).

It also comes with 4G LTE data speeds, perfect for a device that is built to be used on-the-go and a quad-core processor which will ensure a smooth software experience.

Look for release date and pricing details to arrive for the U.S. Galaxy Note 2 on October 24th.

I got my note 2 T-Mobile and no split screen feature which was the number 1 reason I got mine. I called T-mobile & Samsung which they blamed each other for updates. Its a great phone but I want the multitasking!!
