It looks like Google may be throwing in some added value for future buyers of the Nexus 7 tablet. The Google-branded, Asus-made Nexus 7 tablet is currently being offered in either 8 GB or 16 GB capacities, but it is now said that Google may replace the 16 GB model and offer it at the same price with a 32 GB replacement, according to sources to Phandroid.

That publication is reporting that a reseller has told it that Google will replace the 16 GB with the 32 GB edition.

The 32 GB Nexus 7 tablet have been showing up a lot recently. One customer in Japan who had ordered the 16 GB version was mistakenly delivered a 32 GB edition. Given that the Nexus 7 doesn’t come with a micro SD card slot for expandable storage, the increase in storage size will be a great addition for many users who like to tote around a large photo, music, or video collection. Users had to either rely on various cloud storage solutions or make due with a more limited collection of content on their devices due to limited storage in the past.

At this point, it’s still unclear if the price will drop for the 8 GB tablet model. If Google does drop the price for the 8 GB model, it will have a very competitive tablet on its hands with a high resolution 7-inch display and quad-core Tegra 3 CPU. Many consider the Nexus 7 tablet to be among the best Android tablet on the market today thanks to its zippy performance and good build quality.

The increase in storage space would definitely allow Google to better compete with rival Amazon. Amazon recently launched it Kindle Fire HD tablet with either 16 GB or 32 GB of storage, with the 16 GB model starting at the same $200 price point that the 8 GB Nexus 7 begins at.

It’s also been rumored that Samsung and Google may be working together to deliver the next 10-inch Nexus tab.
