Verizon announced today that the Motorola Droid RAZR HD and Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD release dates will both fall on October 18, the date that we heard might be the official release date yesterday.
In a post, the carrier states that both the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD, as promised, will arrive before the start of the holiday season and will be available to pick up just a few days from now on October 18th. Verizon will be selling them both online and through its retail stores that day which means customers have options in terms of where to pick one up.
Verizon also detailed the pricing of the devices and as expected, the Droid RAZR HD will cost $199.99 on-contract and come in black or white with 16GB of storage space while the Droid RAZR HD MAXX will arrive for $299.99 with 32GB of storage space and only a black color option.
The devices will replace the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX, two of Verizon’s best-selling Android smartphones, and while keeping similar designs, they will be bringing some new features to the table.
The Droid RAZR HD features a 4.7-inch HD display, 4G LTE data speeds, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, two cameras with a 8MP camera in the front, a large 2,500 mAh battery, and a speedy processor.
The Droid RAZR MAXX HD is similar but it features more storage space and an even bigger battery which sits at 3,300 mAh and will offer up to 8 hours of web browsing on 4G LTE and up to 21 hours of continuous talk time. The battery and storage space are the reasons why the price of the Droid RAZR MAXX HD is higher than that of the Droid RAZR HD.
So, it would seem that those rumors about a delay were far off and those who are interested in Motorola’s new devices will be able to pick them up in the relatively near future.
