Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 Rumors Squashed

Published

on

It looks like the LG Nexus 4 may wind up being the only Nexus device announced this month as rumors of a Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2 were squashed today as its rumored model number was revealed to be a device called the Samsung Galaxy Premier.

Last month, a device called the Samsung GT-i9260 surfaced and because of its specifications, was rumored to be the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2, a sequel to the original Samsung Galaxy Nexus. However, a German website called MobileGeeks discovered that the device is not the Galaxy Nexus 2 and in fact, the GT-i9260 is a phone called the Samsung Galaxy Premier which doesn’t appear to be a Nexus.

Instead, as the photo reveals, it’s a mid-range Galaxy-branded device and not something crafted under the watch of Google.

This is the Samsung Galaxy Premier.

As was previously rumored, the Galaxy Premier features a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display – similar to the Galaxy Nexus, Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, and a microSD card slot – which is something that Nexus devices generally do not have. All in all, it’s a solid device but it doesn’t look like it’s the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2.

Now, this certainly doesn’t mean that a Galaxy Nexus 2 isn’t out there somewhere. We have heard that HTC, Samsung, and Sony might be joining LG with Nexus smartphones this year and it’s possible that the Galaxy Nexus 2 might still be under wraps. It just won’t be coming out in this form.

Instead, the only true Nexus device that has been rumored is the LG Nexus 4 which, in the past week, has surfaced numerous times for the world to see ahead of its rumored October 29th launch date.

The LG Nexus 4 is expected to feature a 4.7-inch display uses a 1280×768 resolution, quad-core processor, 8GB of storage space with no microSD card support, 2GB of RAM and of course, some version of Jelly Bean, presumably Android 4.2.

8gigs of storage is stupid. Even the smallest iphone 5s now have 16gigs. If they release an 8gig phone with no external storage they will get laughed off the block.
