LG Optimus G Coming November 11 to Sprint

After AT&T had announced the launch date for LG’s flagship Android-powered Optimus G smartphone, Sprint is announcing that its 4G LTE variant will be landing on November 11 on the Now Network.

The quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro-powered Optimus G will have a 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPS Plus Display with a resolution of 1280 X 768 pixels. The smartphone will be equipped with a rear-facing 13-megapixel camera with HD video capture and a front-facing camera. It should be noted that rival AT&T Mobility’s edition of the Optimus G will have an 8-megapixel camera instead of Sprint’s 13-megapixel.

Along with these notable hardware specs, LG has also preloaded a number of customizations in the Optimus G to make it easier for users to use their phones:

  • sprint_lg_optimus_gQSlide Function shows two different screens simultaneously on one display so users can quickly send an important work email while playing a graphic-intense video at the same time.
  • LG QuickMemo™ allows users to take notes on captured documents or photos with their fingers and instantly share with colleagues as an attachment or URL.
  • Live Zooming enhances viewing experiences by enabling consumers to zoom in up to five times while watching video to see small details normally hidden on the screen.
  • Photographs can be intensified with camera capabilities like Time Catch Shot™, which empowers the user to choose the best photo among various shots taken before the shutter button is pressed.
  • Dual Screen Dual Play not only allows mirroring between the smartphone and a TV or monitor, it also has the ability to display different content on each screen. For example, a slide presentation can be displayed on the monitor while the Optimus G shows the accompanying speaking notes.
  • Icon Personalizer, which allows consumers to customize the sizes and images of their most-used apps.

Additionally, as a carrier that’s environmentally conscious, Sprint is also promoting that the Optimus G’s shell is made from 50 percent recycled plastic and the charger is energy efficient.

News of the Optimus G’s arrival on Sprint comes on the heels of Sprint’s and SoftBank’s press conference announcing the merger of the two wireless carriers, with SoftBank to take a controlling 70 percent share of Sprint.

In addition to the Optimus G, LG has another unannounced high-end device in the form of the LG Optimus Nexus, which may be branded the LG Nexus 4 at launch, that users may be interested in.
