It looks like the 32GB Nexus 7 release date and price have both been confirmed ahead of the device’s official launch.
Engadget same day as Google’s Android event in New York City. Additionally, The Verge claims that a reader was actually able to pick up a 32GB Nexus 7 from Staples which sold for the same $249 price tag as the current 16GB Nexus 7 model.
There is no word on what will happen to the 16GB Nexus 7 though we did see that it may have reached its End-of-Life status which would mean that the device could be replaced by the 32GB model.
So, it would appear that both the release date and price of the new 32GB Nexus 7 are now known and neither are surprising.
Of course, we’ll likely have to wait until October 29th to know for sure but at this point, it’s clear that Google intends on introducing at least one new Nexus 7 for the holiday shopping season.
The other two models that have been rumored are a 3G Nexus 7 and a $99 Nexus 7. A 3G Nexus 7 seemingly emerged at the Taiwanese version of the FCC, the NCC, while the $99 Nexus 7 exists in rumor only. The latter supposedly is going to be coming with an 800 MHz processor instead of a quad-core processor, something that will allow Google to keep the price low.
And while they are rumored, the 32GB Nexus 7 seems like the only definite at this point.
Google has an Android event planned for October 29th in New York City where it will likely be introducing not only the new 32GB Nexus 7, but also a new Nexus smartphone presumed to be called the LG Nexus 4.
It also may be announcing a new version of Android, dubbed Android 4.2 as well.
That event will come after Apple’s October 23rd launch wherein the company is expected to debut its own 7-inch tablet, the iPad Mini.
