T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 Features Hidden 4G LTE Support

Published

on

While potential T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 owners were greeted with bad news when T-Mobile launched the device for an expensive $370, there is only good news today as it have been revealed that the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 sports hidden 4G LTE support for T-Mobile’s upcoming 4G LTE network.

The Verge confirmed the news today with a message straight from the mouth of T-Mobile who says that while the Galaxy Note 2 will not automatically have access to T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network, the carrier will potentially unlock support at some point next year, probably by way of software update.

As for right now, the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 only runs on the carrier’s HSPA+ 42 network, which while fast, can’t reach the top speeds of a 4G LTE network which can reach up to 10 times faster than 3G.

The T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 has hidden 4G LTE support.

Here is T-Mobile’s full statement in regards to the capabilities of the Galaxy Note 2:

The Galaxy Note II features a Qualcomm 9215M chipset which provides the hardware capability to support both HSPA+42 and LTE. T-Mobile plans to reach more than 200 million Americans with LTE by the end of 2013. The Galaxy Note II will not automatically access T-Mobile’s LTE network. We will share more information on how and when the Galaxy Note II will support T-Mobile’s upcoming LTE network when the network is available.

So, once the carrier gets closer to its roll out of its 4G LTE network, which should take place in the first half of 2013, we should hear about how T-Mobile plans to enable 4G LTE access for the Galaxy Note 2.

This is huge news not only for those that have already bought the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 but for those that were thinking about buying it at some point down the road. Had the device not had 4G LTE support, it would have meant that it would have been the only Galaxy Note 2 not to run on 4G LTE.

Of course, we still don’t have an official release date for T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network but this is at least something to look forward to.

T-Mobile’s Galaxy Note 2 went on sale yesterday and its 5.5-inch display, quad-core processor, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system costs users $370 on-contract though it can be found for cheaper through retailers like Wirefly.

I picked up a galaxy note 2 from T Mobile just yesterday.no lines no waiting.its missing the multi. split screen function. so all those videos on YouTube will not work on the T Mobile version where you see the multitasking going on, everything else seems to be working pretty good.

It’s a good thing to know that the Galaxy Note 2 will be able to use LTE in the future. I am sticking with T-Mobile since they are the only carrier to offer unlimited data with actual speed. In many cases, the 4G on my current phone than the LTE phone that one of my DISH coworkers has. We use the DISH Remote Access app on our phones to stream live and recorded shows through the Sling Adapter that we have on our home receivers. With how much his phone buffers, it hardly seems worth paying extra for LTE. It will be nice being able to stream as much as I want without hitting a cap.
