Google Announces Nexus 4, Android 4.2, Nexus 10 & New Nexus 7

While Google was unable to host a launch event today, the company still announced new hardware and software, revealing the new LG Nexus 4 smartphone, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the Nexus 10 tablet and several new Nexus 7 tablets.

The announcement comes from Google itself and in a post, the company details just about everything we thought would come from the event today which was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy.

Google has unveiled a grand total of four pieces of new hardware and one piece of new software which will be arriving in time for the holiday shopping season with a majority of the release dates falling on November 13th.

Nexus 4 & Android 4.2

Starting with the Nexus 4, Google finally unveiled the smartphone that has leaked out numerous times in the past few weeks detailing the new Nexus which, as expected, is going to be coming from LG. The device features a 4.7-inch HD display with 320 pixels-per-inch which will offer crisp photos and text, a quad-core processor, two cameras, and two storage options in 8GB and 16GB.

The Nexus 4 will arrive in November on November 13th unlocked for $299 through the Google Play Store for an 8GB while the 16GB will check in with a price tag of $349 unlocked.

Google’s Nexus 4 will also become available through T-Mobile for $199 with a 2-year contract.

The device will also be coming with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Google’s latest version of Jelly Bean, and it will bring a feature called Photo Sphere which lets you take enhanced 360-degree photos, Gesture Typing for the keyboard, and it also brings support for Miracast wireless displays. We imagine that those aren’t the only features and we should get more details soon.

Nexus 7

As for the rest of the products, Google will be bringing several new Nexus 7 options to the table in the form of a 32GB Nexus 7 for $249, the 16GB drops to $199, and a HSPA+ Nexus 7 that will be $299 for 32GB of space and work with networks like AT&T.

The Nexus 7 with HSPA+ data will launch on November 13th while the 32GB model should already be available in retail stores.

Nexus 10

Lastly, Google also unveiled a Nexus 10 tablet which Google says is the “highest resolution tablet on the planet” as it sports a 2560-by-1600 (300ppi) display. As the name suggests, the screen is 10-inches in size. It also features a large battery and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

The Nexus 10 will arrive on November 11th as well and run consumers $399 for a 16GB model and $499 for a 32GB model.
