Today U.S. Cellular announced it will start selling the new Motorola ELECTRIFY M on November 9 for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate on a two-year contract.

Verizon Wireless customers will know the ELECTRIFY M by its other name: the Motorola DROID RAZR M. The ELECTRIFY M has the same 4.3-inch “virtually borderless” display as the RAZR M with the same 960×540 resolution. Inside the phone has the same dual-core 1.5 GHZ processor and 2000 mAh battery.

The ELECTRIFY M has an 8MP rear-facing camera that can shoot 1080p video, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video chat. The phone also has NFC for sharing files through Android Beam or sharing small packets of data with non-Android phones with NFC.ELECTRIFY M_Dyn_L_vert

Like the RAZR M, the ELECTRIFY M has Chrome built-in as the default browser and runs Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will also support 4G LTE on U.S. Cellular.

U.S. Cellular claims the ELECTRIFY M is scratch-proof thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass on the front. The phone also has a “splash guard coating” to protect it from small splashes of water.

The ELECTRIFY M doesn’t have the same sleek black build of the RAZR M. Gone is the wedge-shaped design. Instead the ELECTRIFY M has a silvery finish on the sides that are the same thickness all around the device and what looks like a rubberized back. Motorola and U.S. Cellular only changed the physical aesthetic slightly, so it’s recognizable as the same phone.

The Motorola DROID RAZR M was almost universally praised by critics as a great budget smartphone. The screen was the same disappointing display from the DROID RAZR of 2011 with highly saturated colors. Otherwise the phone reviewed very well as a mid-range phone with high-end specs and a subpar camera.

The ELECTRIFY M will cost $100 more than the RAZR M at purchase, but after a mail-in rebate it will cost the same.
