Motorola Droid RAZR HD Jelly Bean Update Leaks

Published

on

Verizon’s Motorola Droid RAZR HD was promised an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at some point this year and it would appear that the companies are hard at work in an effort to get the software out as the update leaked out for curious owners to download.

The update has leaked out courtesy of DroidRZR and while it’s a Jelly Bean build indeed, it’s unclear exactly what the update represents, meaning, it’s not from Verizon which means that it could be one of the first builds and buggy as well. Remember, Verizon rigorously tests its software before releasing it.

Owners will need to be rooted to install this Android 4.1 Jelly Bean leak.

The Droid RAZR HD Jelly Bean update has leaked out.

At this point, we recommend waiting to install the update as it’s definitely not an OTA and not from Verizon which means it may not be far along in the process. However, those who aren’t scared do have the option of getting this software up and running right now, it’s just going to take some work and some courage.

Motorola updates often leak out several times before they are released, just look at the Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update, so it’s probably worth waiting for a more stable piece of software to arrive.

At the very least though, this is a great sign that progress is being made in regards to the promised Jelly Bean updates for both the Droid RAZR HD and the Droid RAZR MAXX HD, both of which are still slated to get the update from Android 4.0 to Android 4.1 before the end of the year.

Motorola still hasn’t given a time table for when owners might expect the updates to roll out and given that Verizon is the carrier, it still might be several weeks before an official OTA for either of these devices begins.

This is a good sign that there is progress being made and hopefully, Motorola and Verizon are able to get the updates out to these high-end devices in the near future as they would make them much more attractive ahead of the holiday shopping season.
