HTC’s 5-inch Galaxy Note 2 Competitor Leaks in Clearest Picture Yet

Verizon’s upcoming 5-inch phablet, the HTC Droid DNA, has emerged in yet another press image which offers the clearest look yet at Verizon’s 4G LTE version of the HTC Butterfly J.

The new image comes courtesy of the notorious evleaks Twitter account and it depicts the 5-inch HTC Droid DNA in all of its phablet glory. The image gives us a clear look at its design, its Droid red eye that comes with every Droid phone, the position of the device’s front-facing camera, the three soft navigation keys on the bottom of the device, the red strip on the side of the Droid DNA, and what appears to be a port on the bottom. It also has an extremely thin bezel.

From the image, it looks to be a thin beast of a smartphone and one that could certainly pose a threat to the Galaxy Note 2.

This is the Droid DNA for Verizon.

The specifications of the Droid DNA, formerly known as the Droid Incredible X and HTC DLX, are not yet known but we imagine that it will feature, at the very least, 4G LTE data speeds and Android 4.1 or Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as its operating system. Neither of those are confirmed but given that the Galaxy Note 2 possesses them both, we don’t expect the Droid DNA to sport different.

Other possible specifications include a 5-inch 1080p display, same as the HTC Butterfly J, however it’s possible that it may arrive with a LCD-2 display with lesser resolution. If it does have 1080p, expect that to be the feature HTC trots out as big difference over the Galaxy Note 2.

If the specs are based on the Butterfly J, it’ll also have 2GB of RAM, a 2,020 mAh battery, 16GB of storage with expandable storage, and an 8MP camera. The device is also rumored to be coming with a $199.99 on-contract price tag which would trump the $299.99 asking price of the Galaxy Note 2.

Rumor has it the device will be touching down in December though a specific release date is not yet know.

The 2000 mah battery is a no go, my Note 2 lasts all day and then some. Can’t believe HTC would hamstring this phone like that.
