Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Update Brings Killer Feature

Published

on

Those who picked up the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when it arrived last month were without of its best features, that is, until today when Sprint rolled out an update that brings the Multi Window View feature to owners of the Galaxy Note 2.

The carrier announced today that an update, called L900VPALJC, has begun rolling out today to Galaxy Note 2 phablet owners and which brings a couple of new items to the table.

There are a couple of smaller enhancements contained in the update but none is bigger than the Multi Window View feature which brings powered multitasking to those wielding a Galaxy Note 2. We had heard from many people who were wondering where the feature was as it wasn’t on board the stock software. However, those questions have seemingly been answered by Sprint with this update.

The Galaxy Note 2 for Sprint just got a crucial update.

Multi Window View is one of the more intriguing features of the Galaxy Note 2 as it lets users split the massive 5.5-inch display in order to run two apps at once. So, for instance, on one side of the display, users will be able to browse the web while on the other, an app like Facebook could be running. It’s a nifty feature indeed and one of the appeals of the Galaxy Note 2 as the feature, for now, is limited to it.

Samsung will likely be bringing it to the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S3 as well in future updates.

The update also brings some other features to the table including:

– GPS lock settings can be defaulted by corporate device administrators

– Emails go to Outbox when in no coverage area or airplane mode

– Text message notification will beep while in a voice call

Clearly not as good as the new multitasking functionality but nice nonetheless.

The software should be available right now for most if not all Galaxy Note 2 owners on Sprint and those who own the phablet should take a peek inside the device’s settings, and the Check for update function especially, to see if the new software and the Multi Window View has arrived.

people complain about Sprint and their data speeds. it is slow yes. but Sprint and Samsung have been on the ball lately releasing key updates. it’s nice they wasted no thing releasing this update so we can use this device to its fullest. my question is will the split screen be available in the Verizon and att versions out of the box or will Sprint have the heads up on everybody.

Yeah by the time Verizon releases it they will have 3 to 4 updates. that’s how long it will be in Verizon owners hands. Folks complain about Sprint, but it seems lately they are the only carrier doing right by their customers in unlimited, devices and updates.

I’m angry at Sprint for spitefully embedding sim cards. After 11 years with them it’s time to quit. Why can’t traveling customers have the word’s most coveted device with a removable sim card? When traveled earlier this year, I had to buy an unlocked phone which didn’t work well. I had to use my Evo4g and it sank me into US $600 in roaming charges. Sprint must release a note2 with removable sim card for customers who travel. Finally, all international travelers especially business people, should switch from Sprint because they’re forcing us to spend exorbitant amounts of money on extra devices and roaming fees.

I agree with you! It is so ridiculous that they embedded the SIM card, and even paid more per unit for Samsung to do so, just to f*** the customer.

I agree. Sprint your making it hard for international travlers to justify staying with a non gsm carrier. If I cant have the benefit of my device when I travel I may as well switch to a carrier that has a truly worldwide device

FYI, I agree with you, but I would like folks to know that Google voice is a way out of this predicament if you have access to WIFI where you travel. I was able to use my Evo 4g with Google voice to make free calls from anywhere in the world. I have used it in England, Africa and China. You have to set it up before you leave the country as option 2 in Google voice. You obviously can only use it at the stationary locations with WIFI. I also have a blackberry phone for Sim cards to make emergency phone calls wherever I am.

I have the same problem with Sprint now! I do work overseas mostly travelling international about once a month. Note 2 is the device I want to have now… but the embedded SIM card is a big let down. I am also quitting Sprint after 9+ years as a customer. T-Mobile has the phone the way I need and unlimited data plans… So.. what is the point of paying for ridiculous international roaming fees!???? No freakin’ way!!!!!
